Might Cook Better Than I

My husband cooks for me now since I come back around 8p.m. He now can make this variety of dishes every day.

A Productive Way to Destress Oneself

I am stressed out. My job is okay, but still it is so stressful. Due to a big change in the environment around myself, moving from Japan to the States, moving inside the States, getting a new job within 1 month and other things, my body started to scream out and fails to function as regular as before. I need to destress myself. Making sweets doesn't cost much, but is productive. I made cinnamon-raisin scones, choco-chip muffins, and soy-milk custartd. This is the only way left to please myself. I couldc feel a little better.

環境の変化のせいで体に変調をきたし始めた。お医者さんの予約をしようと思う。日本からアメリカに引越して、アメリカ内で引越しして、その一ヶ月以内で就職、かつ夫が…（今は秘密）…というのは精神的に応えていた模様。お金がかからない方法でストレス発散するのにお菓子作りは良い。シナモンレーズンスコーンと、チョコチップマフィンと、豆乳カスタードを作りました。ちょっとすっきりした。

Weekend Feast

We made 60 Chinese dumplings(called gyoza in Japanese) with dumpling skins with no preservatives which we could find at the third Chinese supermarket we visited looking for them! These gyoza skins were great. They are thin, but never break. This is the great work by Chinese Americans! Gyozas we made were super yummy. Well done!

餃子作った（６０個）。餃子の皮は三軒目の中国系スーパーで見つけた無添加のもの。めっちゃおいしかった…んでおなかいっぱい。この餃子の皮いい！！薄いのに破れない。さすが中国系アメリカ人製造だけある。最高。

I also made macaroons with shredded coconuts, whipped egg white and sugar and a little bit of salt. It was really easy, but they turned out to be really tasty!!! I will give some to my co-workers tomorrow. I really find it convinient that I can buy shredded coconut cheap in the supermarket nearby.
ココナッツと卵白と砂糖と塩でマカロンも作った。まじ美味しくできた。職場の人におすそ分けしよう。ココナッツが安く買えるところはアメリカのいいところだね。 

I got a job

In fact, I started to work on August 4. It has been a while since I started. 
実は、８月４日から働いておりました。もう働き始めてからしばらく経ちますね。

It is a job in the downtown in Seattle and it is a sales job at a Japanese sport-goods store. 99% of the customers are American, but some are tourists from Europe, Taiwan, Mexico, Canada etc. Since a lot of major league players use our products, they actually come by to buy what they need. Since there are some games of Seattle Mariners against Boston Red Sox this weekend, we had several Boston Red Sox coaches and players visiting our store for these several days. It is a cool part of our job.
職場はシアトルのダウンタウンで、日系のスポーツ用品のお店で販売です。90％のお客さんがアメリカ人で、場所柄ヨーロッパとか台湾とかメキシコとかカナダとかツーリストも多いです。メジャーリーグの選手もグッズを愛用しているので、実際お店に買い物に来ます。今週末にマリナーズ対ボストンレッドソックスの試合があったので、コーチや選手が何人もお店にやってきました。これはまぁおいしいところかもしれません。

Most of the customers are really nice and friendly, so I actually enjoy talking to them. The other employees are so far all Japanese, and they are around my age. They are nice to me, so it is fun to work with them, chatting in Japanese. So far so good.
お客さんが大抵いい人でフレンドリーなので、接客は楽しいです。今のところ他の従業員もみんな日本人で（もうすぐ一人アメリカ人の子が入るかも）、しかも同い年くらいなので、日本語を使って話をしながら働いています。今のところ仕事は楽しくやっています。 

I applied for this job since I thought I could force myself to practice hearing and speaking English through making money, but the benefits are good. After going through probation for 3 months, they will hire me as a regular worker, then I can join their insurance plan, which I have to pay only a little even when I see doctors. They will even cover my contact lense purchase up to a certain amount. They will give me a bonus once a year, and if our sales are good, they will give us bonus unregularly, they will throw a christmas or a new-year party on their treat, they might pay me to go to California for a busines trip etc etc...Today we had big sales, so we had a big piece of cheese cake on the company treat.
   
一応英語の聞き取りとしゃべくりの練習になると思って軽く始めた仕事ですが、フルタイムで働くと３ヵ月後には正社員になれて、そうなれば、全額月々の医療保険は9割会社持ちで、医者にかかってもあんまりお金がかからないようです。ちなみにコンタクトレンズを買っても、医療器具なので何割か保険でカバーされるそうです。年に一回はボーナスもあったり、売り上げが良かったら臨時ボーナスもあったり、日本らしく新年会か忘年会があったり、カリフォルニアで研修があったり、ベネフィットも充実しているみたいです。ちなみに今日は一日の売り上げがたくさんあったので会社持ちでチーズケーキを買いに行ってみんなで食べました。

Credit Card

Getting credit cards was unexpectedly difficult although the United States is a credit card society. I didn't know but there is a system called "Credit Score" in America. Having a low credit score means you are socially untrustful. In that case, you might have to pay a double deposit fee when you rent an apartment, or you might have to accept a bad mortgage rate with low credit limit, or in the worst case, you might be rejected from having a new credit card.
アメリカはカード社会のくせに、この国でクレジットカードを作るということは意外に大変だった。まず、「クレジットスコア」という制度があって、このスコアが低いと社会的信用が低いということになる。この場合、部屋を借りるときには預け金２倍とか、クレジットカードを新しく作れても、利子が高かったり、限度額が低かったり、最悪の場合は作れない。

The credit score can be improved if you have done your payments through your credit card within the due date over a few years. The bigger the debt, the quicker payment, the better score. Since we are new to this county, we didn't have a credit history, which means we are not good consumers although we are totally clean of debt with savings. We applied for a Korean Air's Signature card(a high-rank card), but they turned down our application and sent us a lower-level card. 
このクレジットカードスコアというのは、カード払いを期限内に数年にわたってきっちりすれば上げることができる。そして、借金の額が大きければ多いほど、そしてそれを早めに払えば払うほど、スコアは上げられるらしい。私たちは新しくこの国で生活を始めたわけで、この過去の支払いの履歴がない。クレジットヒストリーがないせいで、借金なしの貯金ありの健全な消費者なのに、私たちは「望ましくない」消費者になる。大韓航空の一番いいランクのカードを申請したら、ランクを下げられて受理されてしまった。

Since I heard that raising our credit score could be improved faster with the credit cards issued by our main bank, we applied for credit cards from it. They kept it on hold for 2 months because I didn't have my social security number and my husband didn't have a job then.  And FINALLY we got them today!!　YAY!!　It was a long way to get these cards. Now I can make payments through this credit card so that I can store mileage!! Nothing does smoothly in this country but things have slowly started working out.
クレジットスコアを上げる方法を調べてみたら、自分のメインバンク発行のクレジットカードがスコアを上げやすいらしい。だからそうしてみたのに、私の社会保障番号がそのときまだなかったのと、夫がそのとき仕事が見つかってなかったという理由で、申請しても一向に発行される様子がなかった。で、２ヵ月後の今、やっと発行してもらえた。長い道のりだった…。これでカードの支払いができるようになったので、マイレージを貯められる！本当に何事もスムーズに進むことがない…けど、ほんとうに１ミリだけど状況が進展した。

This is kind of a feast for us. We found this beer for $1 a can. The french fries are home-made. We bought a frozen pizza but it is big and tasty enough.

ビールを今週初めて飲んでおりますが、一本１００円くらいのやつです。味はまぁまぁ。韓国のビールみたいに薄くてくせがない。フライドポテトはクックパッド見て作った。カリカリホクホクだった。冷凍ピザだけど大きくて十分おいしい。

The most luxurious food this week! a big cup of ice cream for $5. A treat for us to have survived this week.  

今週一番のぜいたく品。アイス。でっかいカップいっぱいで５ドル。今週がんばって節約したから自分たちへのご褒美。

Neighborhood Park

There is an elementary school across the street by our apartment, which means, according to my dad in law, that this is really a safe neighborhood. In America, all the perverts and pedophiles who have committed sexual crimes in the past are put under surveillance by the police and they are prohibited from living near schools.


Good Idea! Japan has to take in this system since sexual perverts are sexual perverts because they are sick, unable to stop themselves from offending children!! 

私たちのアパートの近所ですが、一本道を挟んた所に小学校があります。近くに学校があるということは、その何キロ圏内には変態が住んでいないということになるらしいです。義父によるとアメリカでは、性犯罪者は警察の監視下に置かれて、学校の近くに住めないということになっているそうです。まったく当たり前！日本もこうするべきだよ。（もうそういうことになってるのかなぁ？良く知らないけど。）変態（特に幼児性愛者）は自分でその衝動を止められないわけよね。法律で止めないと誰が止める？！



わんちゃんたちがワイルドに遊んでおります。


The school has its field but it is more like a park for the community nearby. We can enter to play or come and go across it anytime. Not only that, but it is more likely for puppies since it is pesticide-free. We love dogs so we often come out to this park to watch puppies play like puppy perverts. Puppy perverts are okay to come in.

日本では信じられませんが、この小学校の校庭はもはや地域の公園と化していて、いつでも誰でも出入り自由です。除草剤を使っていないということでドッグパークのようにもなっています。私たち夫婦は犬が好きなので、変態のように犬が遊ぶのを飽きずに見ていたりします。犬愛者は入場を禁じられていません。

So this park should be free from perverts, but it is still open to "crazy"? people. There is a teen-age girl walking around in the park, talking to herself loud and screaming out loud which is as if she was on the phone. It is okay to have her (Maybe). No harm to anyone (for now) . 






とにかく、まぁこの公園は人に対する変態が出現することはないのですが、でも狂ちゃった人の出入りは禁止していません。今日は女の子が公園内を大きな声で独り言を言いながら、そして大きな声で叫び声を上げながらぐるぐるぐるぐる歩いていました。誰にも「今のところは」危害がないからいいけどねっ。
