My key lime pie turned out to be okay next day. Gelatine got firm finally after 24 hours. Good job, gelatine!

失敗したと思った私のキーライムパイはなんとか翌日美味しくなりました。２４時間かけて固まったゼラチンえらいっ。

Christmas Feast

Thanks to the Trader Joe's gift card which Craig's parents sent to us, we could have this gorgeous meal.
クレイグの両親がオサレなスーパー、トレーダージョーの商品券を贈呈していただいたおかげでこんなに豪華なお食事がいただけました。

私は張り切ってパイ作ったけど失敗した。 

クレイグは本当にいいやつだ！

I gave him ear buds. (Gifts are to be practical!) I still don't quite understand why we need to exchange gifts on Christmas (I will never understand this commercial aspect), but I was impressed that he went to the international district searching for items I would like although he was busy. I admit Christmas is a good occasion to express love and caring to each other. I like O'Henry's story, The last leaf, The Gift of the Magi.

プレゼントのイヤホン。私のプレゼントはあくまでも実用性重視。クリスマスは子供のときからケーキを食べる以外の意義が良く分からない。（そのケーキは本日失敗しました。）特にプレゼントを買ってもらうというところは、そんな文化は家にはなかったので良く分からん。でも忙しいにもかかわらず中華街に私が好きそうなものを探しに行ってクレイグには少し感激した。クリスマスとは愛情と思いを伝える日っていうことでいい日だなとは思うけれど。Oヘンリーの賢者の贈り物の話は好きだ。

Christmas Eve + Morning

On Christmas Eve, we had beer at a bar after work and I passed out on the couch.

Craig made this appetizer plate.

クリスマスイブは仕事の後にビールのみに行って、すきっ腹に飲んだから酔ってソファーで寝た。そんなことをしているうちにクレイグがおつまみプレート作ってくれた。

On Christmas morning, I had no idea what to eat on this special day.Craig prepared and baked chocolate croissants for us.

クリスマス当日の朝は、特別に何を食べるのか分からなかったけれども、これもクレイグが前日から用意しておいてくれた一晩寝かせて焼く冷凍チョコクロワッサン食べた。

 Although we are poor, we have lots of Christmas gifts, all the gifts of love.
 We are happy being together.

Fried Sushi

We went to a new Japanese restaurant in our neighborfood.
近所に新しく出来た日本料理レストランに行った。

美味しかったけど

but "chrunchy rolls" meant sushi tempura...
ぱりぱり巻き寿司って何って思ったら
寿司のてんぷらだった

I didn't felt I acutually ate sushi...
お寿司食べた気がしなかった

Spaghetti → Ramen

Sounds odd again, but did you know that we can make ramen of spaghetti??
またまた突然ですが、スパゲッティから中華麺が作れるって知ってました？

They say I only have to add baking soda and cook +2 min. 
スパゲッティをゆでるときに重曹（大１）を入れて、２分多めにゆでればいいだけということで…

I gave it a try!
やってみた！

I smelt something like Chinese noodles when I cooked noodles.
茹でているとき中華麺のにおいがした。

I ate, then It was really ramen!!
食べてみた！ほんとにラーメンだった！！

Elf in Our Apartment

Sounds odd, we can see an elf in our apartment lately.
突然ですが、最近私たちのアパートには妖精が姿を現します。

He ramdomly appears but he is so shy and intraverted so he rarely speaks.
彼は気まぐれに姿を見せてくれますが、とてもシャイなのでほとんどしゃべってくれません。

One day we gave him a computer, he liked it a lot.
ある日彼にコンピューターをプレゼントしてみました。すごく気に入ってくれました。

Another day we gave him a pair of warm red socks since he was in short pants despite the cold weather, he liked them a lot.
またある日、短パンでは足が寒かろうと温かい赤いソックスをプレゼントしてみました。それもすごく気に入ってくれました。

Now he doesn't speak or move all the more for them.
いまやパソコンに没頭してますますしゃべってくれないし、靴下も暖かいのでその場を離れようとしません。

This is a real figure that I dared to take while he was being scared of being in a picture.
これがその妖精の姿である。カメラを怖がっていたが、なんとか撮影に成功した。

Craig made a Polish dinner: Homemade applesauce + potato pancakes. Craig says his mother used to make this sometimes as a child.

クレイグが手作りのアップルソースで食べるポテトパンケーキを作ってくれた。ポーランド料理でおかーさんがたまに作ってくれていたそう。

Interesting Dream

I had an interesting dream last night.
昨日おもしろい夢を見た。

I met a woman in the dream. She was a westerner with long white curly hair. She sounded like she was in charge of human dreams, saying: 
夢の中で、ある女の人に会った。その人は西洋人で、長く白いカールの髪の女の人だった。なんとなく、彼女は夢を司る立場にある人らしく、

"Everyone believes that dreams are just happening in the world separete from their real world, but their dreams are what they actually exerience during the night, but still they believe that they just saw it in their dream."  I don't remember exactly, but she was trying to prove what she said was right through experimenting with a mirror and a mini amusement park train ride. 
「皆、寝ている間に見る夢は夢は別の次元で見た単なる夢だと思っているけれど、実は、実際に起きて体験していることを、あたかも夢だったと信じているだけなんだよ。」と言っていた。詳細は覚えていないけれど、彼女は鏡やミニ鉄道を使いながら彼女の言い分がいかに正しいかを証明してくれた。

According to her, what face in the dream is an unrealistic reality no matter how weired or impossible it might be. It was interesting and weired that she said, in a dream, that the dream is not the dream. 
彼女の言い分は、夢で私たちが体験することは、それがどんなに変なありえないようなことでも、実際に起こっているということだった。夢の中で夢は夢ではないと言われたのは自分の夢とはいえ不思議な感覚がした。
